SYNTHETIC TRANSFORMATIONS (2017, short)

director / producer / cinematographer / editor

Multi-media artist Shih Chieh Huang masterfully blends art, science, technology and subtle humor in the installation of his interactive exhibition Synthetic Transformations at Greater Reston Arts Center in VA.

Born in Taiwan and currently based in New York City, Huang has exhibited worldwide. He has received fellowships from TED, the Rockefeller Foundation, New York Foundation for the Arts and the Smithsonian Institution, where he researched deep sea bioluminescent organisms. In his Fall 2016 exhibition at Greater Reston Arts Center, Huang presents an "immersive experience" featuring mundane household items and technological debris: plastic bags and bottles, Tupperware, LED lights, motion sensors, screens and other computer parts. Watch this hallucinatory environment come to life in an enchanting portrait of the artist and his work.
